Can “We the People” Talk With Each Other?

What: Workshop bringing together 7 conservative-leaning (Red) citizens and 7 liberal-leaning (Blue) citizens for a 3-hr structured conversation. Make your voice heard and listen to others — all in a respectful environment.

When: Saturday, January 25, 2020 from 12 – 3 p.m. Workshop starts promptly at noon.

Where: Chillicothe & Ross County Public Library, Main Library Annex Room B-1, 140 S. Paint Street, Chillicothe OH

Why: In Abraham Lincoln’s 1st Inaugural Address in 1861, with the nation on the brink of Civil War, he appealed to the “better angels of our nature.” In our divided nation today, we all need to be touched by something “better” within us and the country we share.

Process: Structured workshop that focuses on rational discussion with those holding differing and similar points of view.

Goals: Understand the experiences & beliefs of those on the other side. Find any areas of communal ground in addition to our differences. See if we can learn anything that might be helpful to our nation.

Hosts: Jim Crabtree is the local red organizer and Beth Workman is the local blue organizer. Workshop moderated by two trained BA volunteers.

Sponsor: Better Angels is a national grassroots, volunteer organization started in 2016 in response to the division within our nation. The organization is all 50 States with local Alliance Groups in urban and rural communities. www.better-angels.org
